Kangan Institute is a Technical and Further Education provider located over a number of campuses in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It specializes in the automotive, aerospace, polymer and transport industries.
Kangan Institute dates back to 1925 was involves the merger of three major institutes - John Batman, Broad meadows College and the Richmond automotive campus of Barton Institute of TAFE.
In 1925 Richmond Technical School established, delivering motor mechanics training as part of the post-Depression Youth Employment Scheme. 1969 Overcrowding splits Richmond Technical School's secondary education and TAFE functions into Richmond Technical School and Richmond College of TAFE. In 1970 Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) transfers its automotive training programs to Batman Automotive College, Cobourg. Batman College changes its name to John Batman Institute of TAFE. Broad Meadows College of TAFE established in 1985.
Kangan Institute's main campus in Broad meadows houses purpose-built training facilities such as the Aerospace Industry Training Centre, the Transport and Logistics Centre and the Polymer Engineering Centre. It also holds the Richards restaurant, which trains hospitality students both as waiters and chefs. The Cobourg campus is situated in Melbourne's northern suburbs and houses Kangan Institute's automotive training course, in areas such as light and heavy vehicle mechanics, vehicle trimming, motor sport and motorcycle mechanics. This campus also houses a new diesel emission testing and training facility developed in conjunction with the EPA.

The students from Kangan Institute have won many awards across many disciplines such as fashion, hospitality and automotive. Two of Kangan Institute's furnishing students achieved success at the Furnishing Industry Association of Australia Training Awards in 2006. Castlemaine resident Robert Spencer won the Best Certificate III in Furniture Finishing Apprentice Award while Shannon Richardson was a finalist in the Best Certificate III in Cabinet Making Apprentice category.
